Q&A

What is the shelf life?
If you make the kit within a year of purchase, you can give your final product a one year shelf life.
I made this but used smaller jars and had some left. I stored what I had and now I want to add fragrance to the left over portion. I tested a small amount and it eventually separated. At what temp can I heat this to to add Fragrance and not need to re-add a preservative? Or will I need to re-add it regardless?
This can be reheated up to 170° to keep the preservative active, however we recommend heating it to around 130-145°F.
I've made this product on a few occasions and love it however it has a tendency to develop almost sponge like consistency below the surface after a few days. What would cause this?
Make sure the lotion has completely cooled before placing the lid on the jar. You can also stir the top of lotion before adding the lid.
Can a fragrance be added to the recipe?
Yes it can. Step 10 gives you information for adding a fragrance and at what percent.
I don't have a glass bowl.... what can I use instead?
It needs to be a microwave-safe bowl so the ingredients can be melted in the microwave. You can also use a double boiler or in a metal pan on the stove (on low heat) to melt the wax/oil and then transfer to a regular bowl to mix with the water.
